Robert Boyd's 1988 U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Low Scorer Sterling Silver Medal
A sterling silver award medal manufactured by The Robbins Co. for the United States Golf Association presented to Robert Boyd. This medal was issued for the 1988 U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Championship held in Atlanta. The medal features a scalloped edge and includes a jump ring and a split ring for attachment. The obverse displays the official seal of the United States Golf Association in relief, featuring an American eagle with a shield, olive branch, and arrows. The border is embossed with the text UNITED STATES GOLF ASSOCIATION and the founding year 1894. The reverse is embossed with OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP and SECTIONAL QUALIFYING CHAMPIONSHIP. A central rectangular field is stamped ATLANTA, and the designation LOW SCORER is embossed below. The reverse is stamped with the year 1988 at the upper left. Manufacturer marks for THE ROBBINS CO. and the metal fineness mark STERLING are located on the lower right of the reverse.
