Rare 1926 Bobby Jones Cast Iron Ashtray Doorstop w/ Championship Trophy
Exceedingly rare is this staple in the golf collecting industry composed of cast iron, the 1926 Bobby Jones trophy ashtray doorstop with its original paint! Depicting the oft-serious Jones in a much more whimsical way than most are used to, this caricature of Jones depicts slightly disheveled hair while maintaining his patented center part. A red bowtie, blue sweater and white shirt outfit Jones that is leaning on a trophy on one side with a club in the hand of the other. The hardware to Bobby Jones' left is engraved 'American and British Champion.' This trophy closely resembles The (British) Amateur trophy in style. On only one occasion have we auctioned off this sought after pre-grand slam Bobby Jones (highly) collectible with both point of sale and advertising appeal. As previously mentioned, this example of the rarity contains its original paint - welcomed words for collectors pining for this Jones gem - along with an understated 'Want a Match' written on the base. This is the large size variant measuring 12" x 6 1/2" x 5 1/2."
