R.G. Tyler Patented Metal-Faced Wood with Hickory Shaft
This antique golf club is a wood-style club featuring a patented wood and metal combination head design by R.G. Tyler. The clubhead is constructed of dark-finished wood with a distinctive metal face plate secured by six screws. A metal sole plate is fastened to the bottom with five screws and features a central wooden or weighted plug. Inlaid into the top of the clubhead is a metal crown plate stamped with the maker name R G TYLER and the inscription PATENT PENDING. The club features a traditional hickory wood shaft. A metal hosel with black thread whipping connects the head to the shaft. The top of the shaft is finished with a dark, textured, leather-wrapped grip.
