Pre-1906 Lenox Green Painted Golf Scene Stein/Mug w/Sterling Silver Rim
Lenox Golfing Stein with Goldwash Rim featuring a golfer with caddy watching on. This hand painted stein from the early 1900's depicts a golfer addressing his ball while his caddy, with a golf bag slung over his shoulder, peers off into the distance to follow the ball. The reverse side depicts a flag topped clubhouse. Perhaps an expensive gift at the turn of the century between spouses. Per the book Decorative Golf Collectibles by Shirley & Jerry Sprung, “Walter Scott Lenox founded the Ceramic Art Company in Trenton, NJ in 1889, but Lenox assumed complete control around 1895. In 1906, the name was changed to Lenox China Company. This pre 1906 piece contains the old CAC mark as well as the new Lenox name. 6" x 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"
