Phil Mickelson Signed Masters Tournament Logo Golf Ball - Don Bobilo Collection

The difficulty factor on Tiger Woods signed golf balls has been well stated in the golf collecting community. He just has not signed them since his first Masters win in 1997. Flying somewhat under the radar while this has gone on is the fact that the harder signed golf ball is that of his career foil, Phil Mickelson. Lefty has NEVER, yes using the word never carefully, signed a golf ball during his pro career for the general public at a hotel, a sponsors lunch and certainly not at a tournament site. Well this was his one exception to the rule, and those uninformed collectors who rightfully question the authenticity of any Mickelson signed golf ball, do not know the relationship of Phil and Don Bobillo. It dates back to Phil's days at Arizona State University, and his time as a college player at TPC Scottsdale. Over the years Lefty and later on his family was befriended by Bobillo who was known as "The 'Old' Caddy Master" for 38 years at the Phoenix Open prior to his passing. During his career the revered Bobillo was awarded with the "Volunteer of the Year" award by the American Golf Association in 1994 and was inducted into the Caddie Hall of Fame in 2003. Because of their close relationship, Phil signed a handful of logoed balls from significant events in his career for Bobillo. Demanding a whole new definition of difficulty not scarce, like Tiger's signed ball, but accurately stated as, RARE. The PGA Tour would call Mickelson full time in 1992, and two things that remain absolutes since that time are first that Phil would be a fan favorite signing freely for all who asked but secondly steadfastly standing by his policy of NEVER signing a golf ball. A unique opportunity for the autograph golf ball collector, and most likely the one time chance for the Masters logo ball collector to have a Mickelson in their collection. Phil Mickelson of course won The Masters Tournament on three occasions in 2004, 2006, & 2010, adding significance to this ball. A great example of Lefty's black sharpie penmanship just below the Masters logo is offered here. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
