Perry Como's Personal Used Irons, Woods & Putter in Full Size Bag w/Bag Tags
This set of Mr. Perry Como’s, the late, great entertainer, clubs were donated during the 1984 Italian Invitation Golf Tournament held in
Tampa, FL at the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. After the event dinner and award ceremony, it
was customary for the entrants to donate some personal item to be auctioned off for local charities.
There were numerous golf balls, caps, gloves, and other golf memorabilia autographs but Hall of Famer
Al Lopez upped the ante by donating his set of clubs. After witnessing this, others pledged their sets too
including clubs from Joe DiMaggio, Bob Hope, Robin Roberts, Roger Maris, Perry Como, Tony Ciccinello,
Buster Agliano, Stan Musial, George Blanda and more. Al Lopez was elected to store these until they
could be auctioned off at upcoming events and they were stored at George Zaharias’ humidity-
controlled warehouse. Throughout the passing years, The Babe and George Zaharias foundation has
continued to offer numerous items from the facility.
The first set offered from the 1984 Italian Invitation Tournament is Mr. Perry Como’s Set. This set
includes Toney Penna TP2 Model 1-3-4-5 Woods, Toney Penna Tp2 Model Iron set 2-SW, Toney Penna
Putter, and Macgregor Staff golf bag with matching headcovers. Toney Penna was friends with Perry
Como and he custom made most of Perry’s clubs. A signed letter of provenance comes with this lot. 35" - 43"
