Original James Braid Oil Painting Signed by Artist Robert Fletcher - Framed
Artist Robert Fletcher's monochromatic oil study depicts James Braid with a mustache wearing a flat cap. Braid was part of the Great Triumvirate along with Harry Vardon and J. H. Taylor. James Braid was victorious 5 times at the Open Championship and was a very accomplished golf course architect as well. The work is executed in a realistic style using a sepia-toned palette, featuring broad, gestural brushwork that frames the more finely rendered features of the face. The painting is housed in a contemporary black-finished frame with a gilded inner cove.
Renown golf industry artist Robert Fletcher has dedicated nearly 40 years to refining his craft in the fine arts. His works are exhibited on the historic grounds of Cherry Hills and Colorado Golf Club in bronze busts, prior to participating as a lead artist in a recent Golf Heritage Society Meeting art workshop. His most recent success was work that was used as a tribute to the course architect team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw at the Colorado Golf Club. Robert has a unique style, with a mix of realism and and shadowing resulting in an almost a mythic result. A perfectionist, Fletcher's work articulates that quite nicely.
