Original J.C. Dollman 1900 "In the Rough" Charcoal & Pencil Sketch on Board
John Charles Dollman was a artist that appreciated in the subject matter of golf during his life in the United Kingdom. Born in 1851, Dollman might be best known for his piece 'The Sabbath Breakers' that he produced in 1896. Here is an original 'In The Rough' 1900 piece by JC Dollman of pencil and charcoal, with touches of paint. The composition features a prominent foreground, middle ground, and background. The golfing partners are accompanied by young caddies, with all eyes on the ball in the deep rough. The caddy is pulling the proper club for this upcoming attempt to escape a challenging spot on the links course. The reverse of this piece has a drawing tablet identifying sticker along with handwritten pencil notations. Framed 10" H x 14" W, Very Good Condition, Minor Wear.
