Original Harry Vardon Oil Painting Signed by Artist Robert Fletcher - Framed
As the leading member of the "Great Triumvirate" alongside James Braid and J.H. Taylor, Vardon dominated the game in the late 19th century and early part of the 20th. A period that saw him notch a record, that remains intact one hundred years later, of six career British Open triumphs. Artist Robert Fletcher depicted Vardon in his mid-swing wind-up donning time-period jacket and cap just prior to making contact, with an attentive yet relaxed and confident look on his face. From the highlight on the top of his left shoe and up the sock to shading on his pantleg opposite the light source, Fletcher goes the extra mile in search of perfection.
Renown golf industry artist Robert Fletcher has dedicated nearly 40 years to refining his craft in the fine arts. His works are exhibited on the historic grounds of Cherry Hills and Colorado Golf Club in bronze busts, prior to participating as a lead artist in a recent Golf Heritage Society Meeting art workshop. His most recent success was work that was used as a tribute to the course architect team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw at the Colorado Golf Club. Robert has a unique style, with a mix of realism and and shadowing resulting in an almost a mythic result. A perfectionist, Fletcher's artistic touch starts long before the brush is dipped in paint. Fletcher shared that he used raw stretched linin from Utrecht, Netherlands which is wetted and then applied with specialized rabbit skin glue prior to the artwork starting.
