Original Architect Tom Bendelow at Medinah Oil Painting Signed by Artist Robert Fletcher - Framed
Tom Bendelow adopted the moniker "Johnny Appleseed of American Golf" amassing a portfolio that included over 600 golf courses designed in a 35 year span. None more impactful than that of Medinah Country Club just outside of Chicago, Illinois. It was a passion project from 1925 until 1928 consisting of not one or two, but three courses. The third time was the charm, with No. 3 the chosen championship course. Fletcher captured the visionary with his Windy City magic with his style for a work that came to him in story form.
Renown golf industry artist Robert Fletcher has dedicated nearly 40 years to refining his craft in the fine arts. His works are exhibited on the historic grounds of Cherry Hills and Colorado Golf Club in bronze busts, prior to participating as a lead artist in a recent Golf Heritage Society Meeting art workshop. His most recent success was work that was used as a tribute to the course architect team of Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw at the Colorado Golf Club. Robert has a unique style, with a mix of realism and and shadowing resulting in an almost a mythic result. A perfectionist, Fletcher's artistic touch starts long before the brush is dipped in paint. Fletcher shared that he used raw stretched linin from Utrecht, Netherlands which is wetted and then applied with specialized rabbit skin glue prior to the artwork starting.
