Original 1890 'Badminton Library: Golf' by Hutchinson used Ink Sketch 'Fighting Their Battle Over Again' By Artist Harry Furniss

On an illustration plate facing page 288 of the famous 1890 'Badminton Library: Golf' book is this 'Fighting Their Battle Over Again' print from this lot's original Harry Furniss (1954-1925) Indian Ink sketch that would be notably used for the golf book industry staple. Depicted in black and white are 10 gentleman in what looks to be the golf club locker room with a painting on the wall (maybe The Match even). Eight of these tuning into the disagreement and two having it. The detailed composition by the British illustrator who would create for 'Punch' and Vanity Fair magazines often executing caricature work for both fictional and non fictional figures of the time. Attached to the backside of this piece is a copy of the publication usage is: 'Original Indian Ink Sketch from the BADMINTON Series of Sports Books - Artist: Harry Furniss. Published 1890.' Please note the final two pictures are for reference from a 1890 copy (2nd ed.) of 'Badminton Library: Golf' by Horace G. Hutchinson. Matted and framed tastefully in gold hue to 15 1/4" x 12 3/4."
