Old & Young Tom Morris Ltd Ed Hand Signed w/Remarque Prints by Arthur Weaver - Matted
Besides their artistic quality, what makes these limited edition (matching #30/350) prints special is the remarques Weaver has hand drawn in pencil on both of the prints in the respective below margins.
A remarque is a small, original sketch or drawing added by the artist to the margin of a limited-edition print. The purpose of a remarque is to enhance the print and personalize it, making it especially unique. It increases the value of a print because it has an “original” done by the artist right on it - magnified by that of a renown artist such as Weaver.
On The Old Tom Morris print Weaver drew a bag of clubs and a pin flag. On the Young Tom Morris print he drew a sketch of young Tom Morris with his trademark cap.
Englishman Arthur Weaver is regarded by many as the dean of modern golf artists. His paintings and lithographs have been featured in galleries on both sides of the Atlantic
These two large color lithographs are matted. (26¾ x21¾"). and each copy is #30 of 350 as previously mentioned.
Old Tom Morris, four time Open Champion, golf architect and club and ball maker is depicted on the links above the West Sands.
Young Tom Morris is shown wearing his championship belt which was awarded to him for winning the Open championship three times in succession from 1868-70.
