McEwan Long-Nose Scared-Head Golf Club
This late 19th-century golf club is a long-nose with a dark-stained finish. The construction utilizes a scared-head joint where the head and shaft are spliced together and secured with cord whipping. The crown of the head bears the incised mark McEWAN, attributed to the workshop of the famous clubmaking family. The club head is weighted with a lead insert at the rear and includes a protective horn or bone insert along the leading edge of the sole, which is held in place by multiple wooden pegs. The shaft is composed of wood and exhibits a weathered patina. 39" length
