Masters Champs Signed Undated Flag with Jack & Arnie Center - Signed by 39!

Simply put, more past Masters Champions (39) have signed this flag than we have seen on one prior. Accomplishing this feat would first and foremost be dependent on starting the flag at the right time, this being long before 'Signed Champs Flags' were the popular Masters item that they are now. Difficult signatures of 10 late champions here, often left off of flags like this, are Herman Keiser, Seve Ballesteros (excellent full signature), Byron Nelson, Art Wall Jr, Sam Snead, George Archer, Gay Brewer, Billy Casper, Arnold Palmer and Doug Ford. Those that have been to golf tournaments in which Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods were in the field are well aware of the difficulty of fighting the droves of people that want the aforementioned gentlemen's signatures, both of which are found on this flag. With hindsight and planning from the consignor, the middle of the logo was reserved for The King and The Bear - Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer. From many different generations of champions and golf tournaments attended came signatures from the additional champs that are: Jordan Spieth, Gary Player, Phil Mickelson, Patrick Reed, Nick Faldo, Charles Coody, Angel Cabrera, Tommy Aaron, Craig Stadler, Patrick Reed, Fred Couples, Bernhard Langer, Ray Floyd, Bob Goalby, Trevor Immelman, Jack Burke, Sandly Lyle, Adam Scott, Ben Crenshaw, Zach Johnson, Vijay Singh, Bubba Watson, Mike Weir, Ian Woosnam, Jose Maria Olazabal, Fuzzy Zoeller, Mark O' Meara and Larry Mize. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signatures and their auction letter of authenticity comes with this lot.

THE BEASER COLLECTION

Keen insight into all aspects of sporting events in particular Masters week and a determination to build the finest in person autograph collection on the planet led to the success which Jim Beaser and his son Jon achieved in nearly 40 years of obtaining signatures from athletes of various sports with a concentration on golf. Their well thought out pursuit of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods led Jim and Jon to airports, media centers and the annual golf writers dinner, held yearly in Augusta, long before any other "autograph chasers" figured out that this was the optimum way to get in front of the legends of the game for a treasured signature, or in the case of the Beasers a six pack of autographs. In these situations it would still be easy for many athletes to turn down an autograph request especially as the player saw the same face year after year. In the case of Jim Beaser, he was seldom if ever turned down. He had a great sense of humor joking with the players and flashing his beautiful smile. He was having fun and making it fun for the athlete. This was his hobby, not a business, he and his son would travel yearly from their Syracuse area home to attend the Masters with a primary reason to obtain autographs. Jim would then return to his 9 to 5 banking job in upstate New York filled with stories of autographs received and a smile on his and son's Jon's face. We, at The Golf Auction, had our faces saddened in August this year with the passing of Jim Beaser at 69 years of age after a valiant battle of 4 1/2 years with cancer. He made our yearly visits to the Masters and the World Golf Hall of Fame fun with the pure unbridled joy he was experiencing as a true sports fan being in the presence of his heroes. It is with a sense of great honor that we accept the privilege of auctioning the collection of Jim Beaser for his wife Jaki and son Jon to our collecting community. It represents the best-of-the-best for in-person rock solid authentic autographs. Jim's wish would be that you enjoy the items half as much as he did in acquiring them.
