Mark Calcavecchia's 2011 Senior OPEN Championship Sterling Silver Runner-Up Salver in Case


At the 2011 event, Mark Calcavecchia was competing to become the fourth player to achieve the OPEN Double, after his successful claim of "Champion Golfer of the Year" following his win at Troon in the 1989 Open. "Calc's" award from the Royal and Ancient for his accomplishment as the runner-up was this sterling silver scalloped edge tray bearing an image of the famed Jug and etched wording "THE SENIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP RUNNER UP". Mark Calcavecchia finished second by two shots to Russ Cochran at Walton Heath.The maker's silver hallmark appears on the verso of this award. Comes with the original presentation display case. Measures 10" in diameter and weighs 20.8 oz.
