Vintage Harry Vardon Special H. Vardon Totteridge Tom Stewart Iron with Shaft Stamp

The sought after "stovepipe" stamp of approval from Tom Stewart was prominently pressed into the back of this well occupied head containing that of another name of golf fame. Two welcomed appearances of "Harry Vardon" show nicely in both cursive and type, one of the finest golfers during the turn-of-the 19th century. This represents a fairly clean example of the dynamic duo. Tom Stewart produced clubs from 1893 to 1932, overlapping with much of Vardon's golfing career. Vardon, aside from playing professionally, had a sizable club making operation Totteridge. Harry Vardon won the Open Championship a record six times, (1896, 1898, 1899, 1903, 1911, 1914) and was the 1900 U.S. Open champion. He, James Braid, and John Henry Taylor formed the 'Great Triumvirate' of the three renowned British golfers at the turn of the century. The three Englishmen combined to win the Open Championship 16 out of 21 times spanning from 1894-1914. Vardon, passed away in 1937. This 38" iron shows well and represents two of the then biggest names of golf, Vardon and Stewart.
