1951 Masters Tournament Final Round Ticket #623 with Original String - Ben Hogan Winner

Angles of intrigue for this low number 623 vibrant ducat are seemingly endless, all focused around its famous champion Ben Hogan. It gained admission to the fourth and final day of Hogan's first major win post-accident. The tournament represented Ben Hogan's first of two Masters wins, the second coming in 1953. A triumph that would be celebrated by Hogan with past tournament victors prior to the 1952 tournament, beginning the Champions Dinner tradition that lives on to this day. Those are just a sampling.

When play began that Sunday, Ben Hogan found himself down by one stroke to Skee Riegel and Sam Snead. Hogan shot a final round of 68 to overtake Riegel by two strokes and claim his first Masters victory. Hogan had previously finished second twice at the Masters before claiming his long awaited title. This example comes in incredibly near mint condition, with crisp corners and the original string intact. There will never be a need to upgrade this one. Only a handful of final day '51 tickets The Golf Auction has had the pleasure of presenting in ten years. One of the most difficult of post World War II tickets to find for the Masters, combine it with Hogan's first Masters win and it is easy to see why this bright red ticket is so desirable for collectors. The once $5 admission ticket with jet black print is securely displayed in a deluxe screw down case and demands inclusion in an advanced collection with focuses including The Masters, Ben Hogan and/or tickets.
