Original Acrylic on Canvas of Harry Vardon Caddy by Luke A Welch, Jr.
From the brush of painter Luke A. Welch Jr. comes this whimsical depiction of the great Harry Vardon's caddy. Signed by the artist in the bottom right corner, Vardon's caddy is depicted as a jovial individual that likely gave his life and career to caddying when working. With less than proper dental work, Harry Vardon's caddy is painted with a hat, coat and tie on in the foreground of a checkered and well manicured 18th hole green. The revers of this ccanvas stretched on board is inscribed in vintage ink 'Caddy for Harry Vardon 1880.' Affixing the canvas to the rectangular wood board are unique pegs, each with a different oval shaped head. Dark and light colors, along with numerous crossing diagonals culminate in aiding this composition. 12" x 17 1/2"
