Two (2) Ralph & Russell Stonehouse Original 1934 Photos - Hit First Shot in Masters History

The first shot in Masters Tournament history was hit by a gentleman from Indiana that was widely known as the casemate golf professional in addition to a PGA Tour winner, earning an invite to the 1934 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. Ralph Stonehouse was the player and "Augusta National Invitation" was the tournament. Stonehouse had found the invitation in his mailbox after winning at the Miami Open in the beginning of that 1934 season. With all the pressure Stonehouse still found the fairway, of the now hole 10, as they switched the front nine and back in 1935. Contained in this lot are two sepia photos, one of Ralph and one of his brother Russell golfing on June 3, 1934 a mere two months after his first shot at the Masters (March 22, 1934). Each of these original photos is notated on the front in red ink and verso in pencil. 5" x 3"
