A circa 1922 socket head driver stamped ALEX HERD MOOR PARK. This 43 inch straight wood shafted driver is one of a series of 4 or 5 clubs stamped with an Open Championship winner's name in the era of late 1800s to early 1900s. It was called the Open Champion Clubs Collection. A small quantity of these clubs were offered probably 30-40 years ago. It comes with 4 documents: 1. a letter from the issuing company introducing the collection; 2. A short biography of Alex (Sandy) Herd;3. a 12 page brochure about this club and the Open Championship;and 4. a Certificate Of Authenticity & Provanance by famous golf historian David Stirk.
