Payne Stewart's Personal 1999 Ryder Cup at The Country Club Match Used Yardage Book
Here lies the twice stapled, blaze orange yardage book adorned by a prominent gold-tone 1999 Ryder Cup sticker, preserved for over 20 years along with Payne Stewart's celebratory American flag in the large pocket of the golf bag he used that week. Once the cover is lifted, detailed black and white illustrations of each hole with crucial reference yardage numbers that are meticulously placed for each play scenario can be found. The front and back cover show some overall wear from handling at Brookline, relied on by Payne and his caddie to navigate The Country Club. The biennial matches of 1999 are known simply as the "The Battle of Brookline" and remain the most celebrated, unlikely United States Ryder Cup victory in recent memory. The Europeans lead 10-6 prior to the final round, needing merely 4 points on that Sunday to retain the Cup. Justin Leonard drained a 45 foot putt to win the Ryder Cup for the Americans, overcoming the seemingly insurmountable deficit that the Europeans had worked so hard to achieve. It was a perfect end to a perfect season for Payne Stewart who relished in the comradery with his fellow patriots, forming the rare team sport atmosphere in the competitive primarily individual game of golf. Unfortunately it would also be his final season. One that will never be forgotten. A signed letter of provenance from Tracey Stewart accompanies this lot.

Place your bids now as this auction will close LOT BY LOT beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, November 21st. When placing INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bids in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm ET
4. All available lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 10pm ET
**Once extended bidding starts at 10pm ET, each lot will then begin closing with its own 30-minute countdown timer. Lots without a bid during extended bidding will close at 10:30pm ET. We recommend you place your maximum bid(s) prior to that time. Thank you**
