Original Hand-Painted Acrylic on Canvas Painting by Betty Jameson - World Golf Hall of Fame Collection
While LPGA Co-founder and World Golf Hall of Famer Betty Jameson owned "the soundest swing, the best pivot, and the greatest follow-through of the hips of any woman player except Joyce Wethered," according to US Open champion Lawson Little, this lot demonstrates her paintbrush didn't follow too far behind in skill level. Presented here from The World Golf Hall of Fame Collection is this original impressionistic portrait using acrylic paint medium by Betty Jameson. Pink and orange base colors of the face give way to shades of yellows and greens creating highlights and shadows. The two-tone background gives a basic backdrop for the main focal point in the woman's face. On the bottom edge of the canvas this piece is signed by Jameson in black. This painting was sourced from the World Golf Hall of Fame and once displayed as part of their Betty Jameson exhibition, demonstrating the well-rounded golfer's hobbies, passions, and talents off of the course. 16" x 20".
A member of the "Big Four" of women's golf alongside Babe Zaharias, Patty Berg, and Louise Suggs, Betty Jameson broke the 72-hole tournament total of 300 strokes for the first time of any women golfer when she fired 295 to win the 1947 US Women's Open at Starmount Forest Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina. This would be only the second US Women's Open played. A signed letter of provenance from the World Golf Hall of Fame accompanies this lot.

Place your bids now as this auction will close LOT BY LOT beginning at 10:00pm ET Sunday, November 21st. When placing INITIAL bid in the auction, you must agree to the terms BEFORE confirming your bid. All items with multiple bids in the auction will be eligible for the extended bidding period. Each lot will have its OWN COUNTDOWN CLOCK set for a 30-minute interval, and the clock will extend 30-minutes from the time of the most recently placed bid for that lot. If no bids are placed on that lot during a 30-minute period, the lot will close. Place your bids now!
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots with only ONE or NO BIDS will automatically close at 10pm ET
4. All available lots will begin closing on a LOT BY LOT basis at 10pm ET
