1940's Bobby Jones 'Colonel Robert T. Jones, Oliver General Hospital' Augusta, Ga Postcard
"Every golfing star in the country, from Joe Kirkwood to Byron Nelson, has visited Oliver General to show the patients how the game is played. Here, the great Bobby Jones, just got back from overseas duty with the Army, is giving a demonstration." While Bobby Jones was too young to serve in World War I and contributed to relief efforts through exhibition golf tournaments, he would serve in the Air Force come World War II despite being deemed too old by some at 40 years old. He was a captain who was promoted to a major in 1943 and headed to England. In August 1944 then lieutenant colonel Robert T. Jones Jr. was discharged, after over two years of service. This postcard is in very good condition, as seen in the photos. 5 1/2" x 3 1/2"
