Eddie Lowery's 1933 Massachusetts Cup Golf Amateur Championship Runner-Up Trophy
Contained in this lot is Eddie Lowery's 1933 Massachusetts Cup Golf Amateur Championship Runner-Up Trophy. Known to most as the 10-year old caddy that improbably carried the bag for the equally improbable 1913 US Open champion Francis Ouimet, few are surprised that he grew up to become a successful amateur golfer and eventual car salesman himself. Here is proof of the golfing accolades, 20 years later and 30-years old. He was now known as Edward E. Lowrey, engraved on the trophy just below 'Runner Up.' 'The Massachusetts Cup Golf Amateur Championship' are on the top portion of the double-handled trophy. 10 1/2" tall, 6 1/2" wide from handle to handle. Top diameter is 3 5/8" while the base diameter is 4 3/4"
