1950 British Amateur Championship Sterling Silver Runner-Up Medal Awarded to Dick Chapman with Letter
Few affirmations ring louder than TIME Magazine's crowning of Dick Chapman as "The Ben Hogan of Amateur Golf." The 1940 US Amateur and 1951 British Amateur victor earned it, finding an importance of staying an amateur throughout his career similar to other greats. Offered in this lot is the 1950 British Amateur Championship Sterling Silver Runner-Up Medal Awarded to Dick Chapman at the hallowed St. Andrews Links from the Royal & Ancient, a runner-up that would set him up for his victory the following year. Fellow Amateur heavyweight Frank Stranahan took care of business at The Old Course in 1950 with an 8 and 6 finish over Chapman. Included in this lot is a signed leather of authenticity from Richard D. Chapman, the Greenwhich, Connecticut golfer Dick Chapman's son.
This elegant medal of accomplishment from the R&A carries the inscription inside the laurels: "FINALIST 1950", and directly below that one will find its hallmark sterling stamp.

1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
