Circa 1865 Robert Forgan Spoon Donated by Past PGA Presidents Harry Moffitt

Overall Condition: Fair. The leather grip is deteriorating, showing the under-listing, as seen in the photos. There is overall nicking in the head, with a small amount of adhesive residue on the sole that can be easily taken off. Pin in top of shaft/grip.

Robert Forgan was the nephew of Fife clubmaker Hugh Philp. Robert joined Philip in the clubmaking business in the year 1852. Forgan had great skill in working with and identifying quality wood for club-making. Forgan took over the business and employed his younger brother James to assist after his Uncle's death. In 1863 Forgan was appointed as clubmaker to the Prince of Wales and thereafter he stamped the Prince of Wales' crest on his clubs.
