The Standard Golf Company of Sunderland was the best known manufacturer of aluminum clubs. The company became more well known as Standard Mills because of Sir William Mills and his production of Mills bombs (hand grenades) in World War I. Hickory shaft enters in towards the middle of the aluminum head, as seen in the photos. J.A. Smith was very likely the original owner, proudly stamping the crown with his name.
