1912 "The Royal & Ancient Game of Golf' Deluxe Ltd Ed Book #38/100 - Hilton & Smith
One of the treasures of golf collecting. Harold Hilton, a two-time British Open Champion, debunks the theory that golf had its origins in Holland, and includes much material on the early Scottish game. A special section lists all the courses in existence at the time, many of which are shown in excellent photographs. The head and tail illustrations of each chapter were drawn by famed golf artist, Harry Rountree. The rare and highly desirable "Large Paper" first edition (in original full vellum) of this golfing classic is very well illustrated with photographs and prints of artworks. Some collectors might ask why a book valued at $23,000 (Gilchrist's Guide to Golf Collectibles) would finally see itself on the market starting at an incredible $5,000.
