1981 The Ryder Cup at Walton Heath Signed By Both Teams James P. Izatt Topographical Map Piece
Scottish Golf Course Architect James Izat created this Walton Heath Golf Club Topographical map that is full of color and detail. The piece includes each hole distance as it played for the 1981 Ryder Cup. He combined that information with caricatures of all team members of the European and United States teams. Each of these participants signed in ballpoint ink their corresponding likeness on the plague. Included are the signatures of European team members John Jacobs captain, Bernhard Langer, Nick Faldo, Sandy Lyle, Jose Maria Canizares, Sam Torrance, Manuel Pinero, Eamonn Darcy, Des Smyth, Howard Clark, Bernard Gallacher, Mark James, Peter Oosterhuis. United States team member autographs include Dave Marr captain, Tom Watson, Ray Floyd, Bruce Lietzke, Tom Kite, Hale Irwin, Lee Trevino, Jerry Pate, Ben Crenshaw, Johnny Miller, Bill Rogers, Jack Nicklaus and Larry Nelson. Also found in the lower right hand corner is the signature of the creator of this piece James P. Izett. The 1981 team was thought by many to be the greatest United States team ever assembled. The U.S. rolled to an easy 18 1/2-9 1/2 victory. The triumph was paced by Jack Nicklaus who won all four of his matches. It was the sixth and final Ryder Cup for Nicklaus as a competitor. 24" x 26." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed each of the signatures appearing on this composite plague, and their letter of authenticity comes with this lot.
