North Shore Golf Club 6/20/1936 Clubhouse Wire Photo Prior To Intercollegiate Competiton - Glenview
Presented in this lot is a stunning view of the North Shore Golf Club Clubhouse on June 20, 1936 just prior to witnessing Chuck "Charles" Kocsis of Michigan win on the Glenview, Illinois course. This crystal clear image contains the media's photo caption, as well as their pencil markings from industry usage on the verso. The club that originally started as a 5-hole layout in 1900 was transformed into a product that the prestigious British golf design company of Colt, MacKenzie and Allison debuted in 1924 at the club's much larger second location. It would go on to host the 1928 Western Open Championship and even more notably the 1933 US Open that saw amateur Johnny Goodman steal the victory from the pros. Photographer Peter Fish's name is located on the bottom left corner of the photo.
