Jack Nicklaus 1959 US Amateur Trophy with Crown & Girls Wire Photo

At this event, 19-year-old Jack Nicklaus first realized 'that he may have a future in golf' when he defeated Charles Coe; 1 up, in the 36-hole final match for the Championship. To this day, Jack still claims that this was the first of his 20 career Majors, not 18 as the media famously quotes, but to Nicklaus' chagrin the trend of the day is to not credit his two Amateur titles as Majors. 8" x 10"
