Ben Hogan Signed 'Hogan 392LS' Logo Ball Presentation w/ Jules Alexander Photo
The great Ben Hogan left his signature on his 'Ben Hogan 392LS' golf ball in "Position A" directly above the logo in black sharpie. Friend and well-known industry photographer Jules Alexander signed and numbered the photo of Hogan that is framed and matted as part of the aesthetically pleasing signed ball presentation. Hogan's signature has preserved well on his personal golf ball, with very few available of higher overall quality.
Ben Hogan is considered one of the greatest golfers to ever tee up, and his swing and ball striking ability have withstood the test of time. Hogan is tied with Gary Player for fourth all-time in Major championship victories with nine (US Open: 1948, 1950, 1951, 1953; Open Championship: 1953; Masters Tournament: 1951, 1953; PGA Championship: 1946, 1948). He remains one of only five golfers to accomplish the coveted career Grand Slam, by winning all four Majors. It only took Hogan one try at the Open, where he won in 1953 at Carnoustie, his third Major championship of that year. Ben Hogan signed golf balls command attention and typically garner a lot of interest in our auctions, with one of this caliber and in this presentation being one of the finest examples we have ever seen. The piece measures 31" by 20" framed, with the Alexander Photo being 17" by 11." James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed the signature and this lot comes with a full letter of authenticity from JSA #BB32335.
