Reginald A. Whitcombe Signed Card - 1938 Open Winner & 1935 Ryder Cupper
R.A. Whitcombe belonged to one of the most successful golf families of the time, with brothers Charles and Ernest also being professional golfers. Whitcombe passed away in 1957, making his signature difficult to find. This card measures 3 1/2" by 5 1/2" and is on the back of a postcard from 1947. The 1938 Open Championship victor's signature comes with two letters. The first is one from Mark Emerson, the vintage golf signature collector that collaborated with the USGA and World Golf Hall of Fame. The Second is from James Spence Authentication (JSA), as they have reviewed the signature and their auction letter of authenticity will come with this lot.
AUCTION CLOSING RULES:
This auction will end at 9:00pm EST Sunday, June 16th (Father's Day) with EXTENDED BIDDING to follow. All items that have received multiple bids in the auction will remain open until no items have received a bid within a 15 minute time period (at 10pm EST, the countdown clock will be adjusted to a 5 minute interval)
1. You must place your initial bids BEFORE extended bidding begins in order to bid on the item in extended bidding
2. During extended bidding, you are allowed to bid only on items you PREVIOUSLY placed a bid on.
3. All lots that are active in extended bidding will close at the same time, and those with only ONE or NO BIDS will close at 9pm EST
