1954 'Welcome Home' Ed Furgol Button with Ribbon - July 28th

With a heroic, scrambling par on the 72nd hole of the 1954 United States Open, at Baltusrol, Ed Furgol claimed the Championship with a one stroke win over Gene Littler. This victory was against so many odds for Furgol, who as a twelve year old suffered a playground accident which left him with a withered left arm for life. The Utica N.Y. Button has a 2" diameter with the ribbon extending to a length of 5." This button commemorated Furgol's US Open victory. There is a black and white picture of Furgol with the words "WELCOME HOME" above. The item is in excellent condition, with the exception of the backside of the button being rusted.
