Errie Ball Signed & Handwritten Response About Playing in 1934 Masters with Jones
The question was "Mr. Ball, having played I the first Masters Tournament in 1934 - What memories do you have of that even 72 years later?"
His response was:
Bob Jones invited me to play in the first Masters. He was trying to promote the Masters, and to get off the ground, invited 70 of the best players in the world. It was more or less like a party - liquor served. I didn't drink in those days, but all of us had a good time. I never realized it would turn into the tournament it is today. I myself, didn't play too well, but I had a good time."
Samuel Henry "Errie" Ball was a Welsh-American professional golfer who competed at the inaugural Augusta National golf tournament in 1934 along with Bobby Jones. Errie was the last living golfer of those who competed in that first Augusta National Invitational tournament. Unfortunately he passed away in 2014. Page is 8 1/2" x 11"
