1982 Tournament Players Championship Contestant Money Clip/Badge

Offered in this lot for bidders is one of the badges/money clips from the 1982 TPC Championship. This was the first year Sawgrass hosted the Tournament Players Championship, where it has been held every year since. Jerry Pate and his orange golf ball won by two strokes over Scott Simpson and Brad Bryant. Jerry Pate played and shot a final round 67 with his orange ball, and then at the award ceremony Pate pushed commissioner Deane Beman and course designer Pete Dye into the lake and then jumped in to join them. This clip measures 1 5/8" x 2 1/2" and is in excellent condition.
