Offered here is an Army and Navy William Gibson & Company smooth face "holdfast" iron is offered here. It measures 36" to the heel and comes in great condition. The Army & Navy Cooperative Stores started as a way for military personnel to order supplies, though it is still operational today and anyone is free to patronize. In the late 1800's, James Braid was a clubmaker for Army & Navy, their high quality clubs often made unique with danga wood or greenheart.
