1930 Bobby Jones Chipping at The Open Championship at Hoylake Photo - Signed By The Photographer
Here we have a very uncommon platinotype original action photo of Bobby Jones chipping at his 1930 Open Championship win at Hoylake. This is not a wire photo. A platinotype, also known as a platinum print, is a photographic print made using a monochrome printing process that utilizes platinum instead of silver salts. These prints are known for their rich, long tonal range, matte finish, and archival quality, as the platinum is embedded in the paper fibers rather than sitting on the surface in an emulsion
The photographer is Admiral Stuart Nicholson. After he retired from the Royal Navy in 1920 , he actively pursued his hobby of photography. He has signed and dated this photo and captioned it “Bobby Jones U.S.A”. He also noted on the back ‘Liverpool”
The overall size is 8.5 x 11 with an image size of 6.25 x 8.5
The photo is mounted on original ivory linen paper. There is some foxing on the linen paper but the photo image in not affected.
A great scarce photo to add to your Bobby Jones Grand Slam collection.
