Arnold Palmer Signed 1961 Open Championship at St. Andrews Competitor Badge
While Palmer was a gracious signer, the already rare items now bearing his signature have become extremely desirable - this likely one-of-a-kind 1961 Open Championship 'Competitor' badge with a bold "sit-down" signature across it. The King was crowned Champion Golfer of the Year without much resistance, hoisting the Claret Jug in just his second attempt by one stroke over Dai Rees. Marking Arnold Palmer's first Open Championship victory, and the first of back to back Open victories, this treasured extremely limited piece of ephemera from across the pond is sure to be a highlight for any collection. Arnie will always be remembered as one of the greatest golfers of all time, his charitable endeavors and conviction with which he played the golf leaving a lasting mark on the game. Certainly a 'population 1' in our system, along with graders such as PSA - pickup this investment/collector piece from nearly 65 years ago. James Spence Authentication (JSA) has reviewed this signature and their auction letter of authenticity (ALOA) comes with this lot.
