This spring face iron has a sheet of steel riveted to the hollow head, the result of which makes the head act like a spring when striking the ball. These clubs are popular with collectors of today, commonly found in the golf bags of turn-of-the-century player from yesterday. This example contains the early AG Spalding Bros - Baseball logo head stamp still legible. Replacement shaft. No matter what brand of club you pull from your bag, you owe some thanks to one company--Spalding. At the turn of the 20th Century, golf had stirred mild interest in the United States, and A.G. Spalding & Brothers sporting goods saw an opportunity.
