In front of the famed clubhouse at the Augusta National with the assembled field of contestants for the Masters is this silver gelatin version of the print with the correctly dated year of 1935 and names below. This seated group of contestants photographed elbow to elbow from the Augusta Invitational (Masters) Tournament has always been a popular image, with companies like Acushnet and Reuters reproducing it decades after its issuance. **Now the rest of the story of this image as detailed by Frank Christian, who has been a second generation photographer to the the A.N.G.C, in his informative book Augusta National & The Masters "Before the second Masters began in 1935 Clifford Roberts asked my father to photograph the entire field as a memento of the occasion The players posed on the lawn in front of the clubhouse. I will let you in on a little secret about that photograph which is shown at the left. Copies have been widely circulated and identified as the "Inaugural Masters 1934." The reason we know this is that Gene Sarazen, and many others who did not enter the tournament in 1934, are clearly evident and identified in the photograph".** Co-Founder Bobby Jones is captured with the rest of the field, first row and in the center of the group.
