The World Golf Hall of Fame was originally founded in Pinehurst in 1974 and was operated by the resort’s management company until 1983, when ownership was transferred to the PGA of America. It moved in 1998 to St. Augustine. Now the USGA and the PGA of America have collaborated to build a wonderful new World Golf Hall of Fame and USGA satellite museum at Pinehurst. This magnificently curated facility officially opened on May 10 of this year.
Memorabilia from the original WGHOF at Pinehurst are few and far between.
We are fortunate to offer in this lot two pieces associated with the original Museum. 1) a notecard boldly signed by Arnold Palmer which is PSA certified. The front of card depicts the original building at Pinehurst. 2) an unsigned souvenir license plate depicting the WGHOF and stamped “Pinehurst N.C. “
These items would look great paired with souvenirs from the new WGHOF.
