Ben Hogan Signed 1949 TIME Magazine - January 10th
Time Magazine in the 1940's and 50's was most often reserved for world leaders and royalty. Ben Hogan fit neither when he received the honor for the January 10, 1949 issue. Hogan had however risen to golf royalty in 1948 winning both the US Open and PGA championships and this made him magazine worthy when Time Magazine showed up at Riviera C.C. to cover his appearance at the PGA stop that January. This example carries Bantam Ben's meticulous signature just below his image resulting in maximum presentation. Four pages were dedicated to him in the magazine including a time lapse sequence of his swing which had already reached mythic proportions. Within a month of this cover, his game at the height of success would come to a quick halt on a Texas highway in a near-fatal automobile accident. The issue of this classic Time Magazine is offered here complete and in fair to good condition, please refer to pictures for an additional report.
