The First International Foursome' Played on Leith Links 1682 Framed Print By Allen Stewart
Taking part in this foursome was the Duke of York, who later became James VII of Scotland/ II of England. Stewart's original piece was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1919. The match came to be when there was a disagreement between the Duke and a couple of English noblemen regarding the timelines of golfing in England and Scotland. Edinburgh cobbler John Paterson was the Duke's partner. It is framed to 32" x 27" and is in very good condition, with some discoloration to the paper from age.
