1934 US Amateur Championship at Brookline 'The Country Club' Ticket #526
The 124th USGA Amateur Championship was recently played at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minnesota. 90 years earlier the 38th USGA Amateur Championship was held at The Country Club in Brookline Massachusetts on Sept 10 to 15 1934. Reigning British Amateur champion Lawson Little received a bye in the first round and in this second round on September 11 he would defeat John Tucker of Rochester NY 3 & 2 in the first of 7 matches in his march to the title where he would ultimately defeat David Goldman 8 up with 7 to play for the championship. Paper tickets for this championship are extremely uncommon. This example is in overall very nice condition with what appears to be the original string. This is the first time The Golf Auction has offered a ticket from the 1934 Amateur championship at auction.
