1934 Craig Wood Runner-Up at Inaugural Masters Final Round Original Acme Photo
Here is a crystal clear, "finish" or post-swing full-body shot of the "Blonde Bomber" Craig Wood on the first tee in the final round of the inaugural 1934 Masters Tournament. Posing with a smile on his face, Wood liked what he saw. The historic tournament at Augusta National Golf Club played 90 years ago produced its first champion Horton Smith, and left the pictured second place finisher Craig Wood with a bad taste in his mouth. His drive was only that much stronger (pardon the pun) and in 1941 Wood would champion The Masters with an 8-under score of 280. This photo presents exceptionally and is dated March 27, 1934 (3/27/34) on the verso adhered caption, found along with the appropriate ACME Pictures media branding and additional timestamp of 'MAR 1934.'
