Bobby Jones on Set Making Instructional Movie Culver Pictures Original Photo
No Clark Gable, but Bobby Jones dedicated himself to The Movie business. 'Bobby Jones making talkies' along with the Warner Bros. property rights claim is handwritten on the verso of this photo in pencil. Crystal clear and taken with a wide lens is this shot to show the production as its made. Stamped is the Culver Pictures media company. Talkies or talkers were audio soundbites that were added over the video footage of Bobby Jones for the early 1930's Vitaphone instructional movies that he by many accounts retired playing competitive golf to do. This is a "behind the scenes" look at the set, with microphones hanging over lead "actor" in Jones, the directing team, supporting actors and actresses and chairs and umbrellas all surrounding the driving range. Jones would star in both 'How I Play Golf, by Bobby Jones' (1931) and 'How to Break 90' (1933) for 18 short films in total. In very good condition is this photo with the exception of some lower right edge chipping. 8" x 10 1/4"
