c.1989 Michael Jordan Signature Wilson Club Irons (3-PW) & Woods (1-3-5) Complete Set w/Boxes
The year of Michael Jordan's Fleer rookie card, 1986, he signed with Wilson Sporting Goods. This would of course not overstep his Nike deal that was inked by his Airness his rookie season two years prior. Chicago-based company Wilson then inked Jordan to a lifetime deal in 1992, plastering his name on not only basketballs but golf balls (a purported 250,000 sent to JC Penney in 1991) and other goods. Not included in those shipments were these Michael Jordan 'Autograph' Wilson irons (3-PW) and woods (1,3&5), as their 1989 manufacturing date prior to the lifetime deal and not thought to have ever been sold to the masses at retail. A muscle-back style, Michael Jordan's early facsimile signature is stamped into each in black in the matching uppercase 'Autograph.' The woods of the same vintage match the style athlete branding in white on the black of the club crowns. These are in pristine condition, likely never hit and come with their original Wilson boxes and end labels model names 'Michael Jordan Auto 89' for the irons and simply 'Michael Jordan' for the woods. The specs. on the long cardboard 'Wilson' box reveal the set includes 'standard' grip, loft/lie and shaft along with 'regular' flex. Jordan would be sucked into Toon Town in Space Jam years later while playing the 'other' sport he famously love in golf. This set is a highly-coveted crossover piece poised for a Jordan/ golf club collector's display.. 35 1/2" - 43"
