Payne Stewart 1999 US Open Memorabilia Fist Pump at Pinehurst Commemorative 2005 US Open Flag - Seldom Seen
Flown one single day, on one single hole, as a tribute to the late Payne Stewart and his US Open victory 6 years prior at the historic Pinehurst No. 2 - this yellow USGA flag with the black silhouette remains one of the toughest in its category to track down for collectors. This exemplar, in pristine condition, was produced as an on-site backup in 2005 to that flown example for the Sunday final round 18th hole that made Michael Campbell a major champion. Payne Stewart's iconic celebration is depicted on this flag, the first of its kind that we have seen. While this style was not used in the first, second or third round, examining tape of the 2005 US Open 4th will yield this flag atop the pin. It was a classy gesture by the USGA to honor their champion in 2005, with this Standard Golf flag unquestionably a necessary acquisition.
