Original Tiger Woods 1997 Nike Point of Sale Soft Goods Stand-Up Cardboard Advertisement
When Tiger Woods turned pro at the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open he was greeted with a Titleist golf bag, but Nike shoes and apparel in the locker room. Woods had signed a $40 million dollar 5-year deal with the industry giant, proudly donning the swoosh all the way through 2024. He would add a glove to the Nike ensemble in 1998, ball in 2000, driver in 2002, before all hard (equipment) and soft (clothing & attire) was Nike in 2003 with the exception of his Scotty Cameron Newport 2 GSS putter.
This lot contains an early cardboard 1997 Nike point of sale standup advertising display with an easel back that was purported to be sourced from Nike Founder and CEO Phil Knight's assistant. The posed black and white shot of Tiger Woods exhibited the Nike hat and shirt on their phenom. It remains in good condition, with miniscule spots of surface residue stated for accuracy purposes only. If these were to be used in stores, very few survived as this is the single we have offered. 10 1/2" x 13"
